The coronavirus outbreak which originated in China has affected 1.85 million people around the globe. In India, as of 13th April 2020 – 9152 cases have been reported with 856 cured cases and 308 casualties. The Nation had imposed a complete lockdown and home quarantine for people since 24th March 2020. This has left businesses around the country counting costs. The retail sector which is the second-largest employer in the country has been one of the worst affected sectors with projections of 40% of people losing their jobs in the next four months.
As a fashion brand, Baggit has always delivered excellence by being faithful to the home soil, the local designers, the indigenous artisans, the craftsmen, the internal employees, the store staffs and the customers. And during this economic slowdown and the foreseen crisis, our values of being an ethical and socially responsible organization remains unchanged.
Thus, we have introduced the “Work from Home” policy for our employees so that they can maintain social distancing and work at the comfort of their home. With the Government announcing a 21-day lockdown and further extension till 3rd of May, we have completely shut down our manufacturing units and stores for the safety of our staffs and workers.
We’re also continuously assessing the situation around the globe and in India to ensure the well-being of our community. We wish to continue the precautionary measures and WFH policy until we are safe from this threat. For us, COVID-19 is a learning experience where hygiene is going to be the most important value for our future. For the further safety of our team members and customers, post the extended lockdown, we have planned to equip our stores with:
- Sanitizers at all entry points
- Clean stores for 3 times a day
- Sanitize the doors & handles every 1 hour
- Mandatory masks and full sleeve shirts for store staffs
- Less dependence on cash transactions
- Only two shoppers allowed in-store to maintain social distancing
- Distributing sanitizers and masks to shoppers on request
- Mandatory Hand gloves for everyone.
Today, we are all going through a tough time, a crisis which has arrived upon us all of a sudden. So we as a socially responsible brand, want to ensure that we are prepared for a better future as well. We humbly request to till then stay safe, stay home and practice social distancing.
